Will receive a login and URL to share with students and parents before school is out (I did not confirm this, but that is how it worked last year.)

If more than one staff member from a school signs up by accident, will be given the same credentials as those given to the first staff member

Can download two complete audiobooks per week

New offerings every Thursday (as of 4 am Pacific) each week through mid-August

Students (or their parents) can sign up for weekly alert about new titles or check site weekly for new downloads

Gale staff created a 1-minute video to share with parents or students

Encourages children to use Gale resources during summer

In any promotion, be sure to include your school districts or private school’s Gale login; however, with geolocation, access is possible for those who forget login

Can also post video link on your website, social media, newsletters, etc. (but cannot post login on public-facing platforms)

Khan Summer Reading Competition

It is for students 13 and up, runs from today to August. Subjects include US History, Biology, or Programming. Check out below for prize info and the flyer attached can give you all the information you need to share with students.  

The Khan Academy team will be awarding projects in the following categories:Top biology project

  • Top programming project
  • Top US history project
  • Every learner prize—project that showcases the learner’s learning journey
  • Innovation prize— project that shows the most creativity
  • Grow innovatively prize—project that connects most to the learner’s personal story
  • Khan scholar prize—project that best incorporates Khan Academy content
  • Popular vote prize—project with the most likes and shares on social media; be sure to tag @khanacademy and use #CampKhan2019 to be in the running

The winner in each category will be awarded a 13-inch MacBook Pro with 128GB of storage, a personalized note from Khan Academy, and a grand prize winner’s certificate.

Additionally, we will award the top 50 projects a Khan Academy Hydro Flask, Khan Academy swag, and a top 50 winner’s certificate.

Gale Databases (elementary, secondary)

Plentiful content in the Gale databases

Example: National Geographic Kids (K-8) has over 300 ebooks and every issue of National Geographic Kids magazine

Example: Find publication by title, like Muse from Cricket Media, a science and tech magazine for ages 9-14 (Power Search//Search-no need to enter a search term//Publication Search); sometimes images are removed from articles due to copyright restrictions

Books and Authors has book recommendations; users can post reviews, too

With geolocation, access is possible for those who forget login
